Hey Dare! Bravo on the
Hitchhiker's Guide figures!-(Yer Pal Boneyard, poster at RTM)
Marvin the paranoid android and the Vorgon are fantastic! I even like your
interpretation of Ford Prefect. the TV one never sat right with me either!
Yeah, fantastic work Dare!-(Sentinel,
poster at RTM)
Those really are amazing, especially since I know how quick some of them
had to go together. But they are flawlessly perfect. Why aren't you working for
a toy company? I might have to read the source material because of this.
Holy crap, that is deeply cool stuff -
(Peter Fries,

Sweet sketches, by the way.
Those toys would actually sell. You should pitch them to Adams' estate...
Nice work! Not a Hitchhiker's fan but the customs are sweet...nt -(Spackling Compund, poster at RTM)
heh heh heh...cool! (n/t) - (Wowbagger The Infinitely Prolonged, poster at RTM)
The Custom Con FIVE day 4 awards-(Julius
Marx, poster at RTM,
contributor to AFTimes.com)
I was going to give Airmax 2 awards for Most Ambitious and Most
Patient until I saw Dare's Hitchhikers Guide figures. So, now that splits the
awards.
So the Julius Marx 2001 Award for best use of a "what am I gonna do with
this crap?!?!" award goes to.... Dare- for his use of the big Episode 1
Eopee fish that stores will NEVER sell out of! That Beast set is like a turd
that won't flush. We'll see beat-up boxes of those LONG past Episode III is
released!
Hey Dare......- (Rod)
As I've come to expect from you, excellent customs. The usual high craftmanship
is there, but it's the unusual choice of characters that always make your
customs stand out. Kudos again to you.
Dares stuff- You suck....-(Ryouga)
well actually i'm just jealouse you got all those reply's and i'm still cryin
about ryu. jk
Great presentation, you put allot of effort into it and it shows. Nice amount of
pictures, with semi-proffesional looking display, and good resource pics so that
even if you were unfamilaiar with hiker's you would still know what you were
trying to make.
I like arthur the best, looks the most "proffesional". I think the
sculpts a little ruff, on the 2-headed guy, but i know it's really hard to
sculpt intricatly at small scales like that.
the RAVENOUS BUGBLATTER BEAST of TRAAL, is scary, i'm going to have nightmares
tonite. Looks like the honeycomb monster on PCP hehe.
Yup, Dare's stuff rocked.-(Frenzy)
I'm sooo jealous. Now I've gotta get off my ass and reread the books. Great use
of parts man.
Great work, Dare - (Casimir, fellow
customizer & co-founder of IRONCOW
PRODUCTIONS)
Just wanted to send congratulations your way on the Hitchikers customs.
Fantastic stuff. I loved those books in elementary school (an eon ago). You've
really brought them to life. Not only in essence, but with a sense of style to
boot! (Trillian's scarf thing just makes her perfect for me.)
I suspected this would be your subject from your little teaser images with the
towel. Looks like I lucked out. These are clearly some of the best pieces shown.
great HHGTG
collectibles!!!!! - (Nicolas Botti, of Guide
Galactique)
Thanks for these great and fantastic collectibles of HHGTG. It's too sad they
don't really exist. I'll put a news and a link on my french website about
douglas adams and hhgtg.
Really great. Thank you very much
Re Hitchhiker's tribute - (Marcus)
Niiiice. I like the complete control you have over site deisgn, replete with
spoof banners )
Despite what we did though, the tank somehow doesn't have the allure the other
figures have..
Hitchhikers Guide Figs -
Improbable yet now Possible - (John Abrahams)
I must collect the bits of brain matter that are all over the tabletop here as
you've just blown me away.
Hitchhikers Guide, a wonderful thing, you've brought back memories.
Your Arthur and Ford are especially fine, I guess because you've somehow grabbed a snapshot from my mind of how they would look. I guess seeing the BBC production also influences :). The worried look on Arthur, the car salesman grin on Ford, well done well done. Great pajama -robe ensemble, and a nice choice of purple shirt and open tie for Ford, the slickster. All executed nicely, even up close they look great.
Your Vogon and Bugblatter beast, memorably awful, in a good way. That Vogon head is sweet.
Trillian is everything you mention ... with Zaphod I'm still hanging onto my BBC notions of brown hair, but your twoheadedness has worked out great.
The whole format you've brought together conjures up the spirit of things wonderfully, thank you for your efforts. I'll be looking at this one again for sure.
I raise a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster in your honor ... and will be looking for the Heart of Gold playset.
From the DOUGLAS ADAMS website
Much fun, I love the banners,
esp the Marks & Spencers one. Encore une fois, Chapeau. ~lain |
Hi there hoopy froods,
towelers, galactic hitchhikers, and sentient beings. I liked the site alot except for two poblems with it. First the Action Figure of Trillian has got the wrong colored hair again. Now its red. The book says that ~ "She was slim, darkish humonoid, with long waves of black hair, a full mouth, an odd little knob of a nose, and ridicuously brown eyes." NOTE~HER HAIR IS SUPPOSED TO BE BLACK. With her red head scarf knotted in that perculiar way and her long flowing silky brown dress she vooked vaguely Arabic. Not that anyone had ever heard of the Arabs of course. THe Arabs had recently ceased to exist AND even then they were five hundred thousand light year5s from Damogran." Trillian seems to have Black Hair and is of Arab appearence. The action figure does not do her justice. I like Bugblather Beast of Trol, and the others. Well maybe Zaphod. But then he is this guy you know. I still like my Lead Figures of the Heart of Gold Crew. Why does Trillians Hair look Red? Oh yes enjoyed the Ecentrica Galumbits Banner link but got a 404 error. How in Zarquan*s Seven Moons (They are hollow you know) do I get in touch with Ecentica Galumbits now? I stitched on my Towel DNA 4FR addendum: |
There not too bad for a first
effort. (I didn't exactly see Phil (Zaph) as blonde though). ~Richard T |
Really, very nice work - (Walken, poster at RTM)
especially on the supplemental stuff. Plus I agreed with almost all your
interpretastions and descriptions. Great work!
CC5 entry -(Ron
Kenyon)
Just checked out your Custom Con entry. Great concept, awesome customs,
and excellent presentation! I didn't recognize any of the base figures,
which is very unusual for me. What was your reference material? I've
read most of the books, and seen some of the series that came on TV. The
ad banners were too much!
HHGTTG
figures-(Sharon
Lewis)
hi just found your site and thought it was great (loved the banners esp
marks and spencers) i thought your models were very professional and enjoyed
reading how you made them.
by the way sandra dickenson did have a very high pitched voice with and american accent.i think the idea was that wit a degree in maths and another in astro physics the only way she could be un employed was if she looked and sounded as though she wouldnt be taken seriously. also remember DNA was involved with Dr Who and she has Assistant written all over her! (well she did marry one)
